Associate Professor, School of Translation at the Université de Saint-Boniface, Canada

Renée Desjardins is an associate professor at the School of Translation at the Université de Saint-Boniface in Winnipeg, Canada. She has been studying multilingual communication and translation in online and digital contexts for over a decade. Her book Translation and Social Media (Palgrave Macmillan, 2017) examines the connections between these themes using theoretical, pedagogical, and professional lenses. She has also recently collaborated with a group of international colleagues, including senior and early career researchers, in the publication of When Translation Goes Digital (Palgrave Macmillan, 2021), a volume she co-edited with Claire Larsonneur (Paris 8) and Philippe Lacour (Universidade de Brasília). This latter project includes a chapter with her work on translation, citizen science, and social media (research funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada). Her most recent work examines non-translation and illusory translation on Canadian social accounts during the Covid-19 pandemic (Routledge, forthcoming).
